What is Windows 10 S MODE?


Microsoft initially introduces Windows 10 S in schools as it is the most secure and lightweight Windows version. it is beneficial in some cases as if S mode is enabled it means you are running the secure, fast and stable operating system. As it only allows you install programs from Microsoft store and you can only browse in Edge. So S Mode in Windows 10 restrict you installing apps from other sources that usually drains your battery life, runs in background, install adware that leaves your device comparatively insecure.

Although S mode gives you most reliable and secure user experience but it has several limitation. You are limited to apps and software available in Store. You can only use preinstalled Microsoft browser with default search engine. It doesn’t allow you access Windows database or other useful developer tools.

How to Switch Out S Mode?


Switching out of Windows 10 S Mode is permanent and once it’s done you can’t get into S mode again. In future Microsoft will introduce a useful features that allows users switching in and out but currently this feature is not available.

1. In order to switch out of S Mode just Press and hold Windows logo key + I from your keyboard.

2. Windows 10 Setting page will open from here click on Update & Security and then select Activation.

3. Here you will see and option to Switch out of S mode.

  1. To "Switch Out of S Mode" requires a Microsoft (tracking) Account. Some people don't want an account. I need a way to "Switch Out of S Mode" without a tracking account.
