Microsoft announced free upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10 for eligible devices. If you looking for how to Upgrade to Windows 11 for FREE,  here is the step by step guide  to let you go through the process.  Microsoft announced Windows 11 on June 24, 2021.  The stable release for Windows 11 started rolling out on October 5, 2021.

So if you already running Windows 10 on your PC or laptop then you can get Windows 11 for free. Microsoft has already clarify that Windows 11 will only run on compatible devices. Microsoft has totally changed the criteria for windows 11 eligibility. Mostly devices running Windows 10 without any problem are not eligible for the new windows operating system. However do not worry, in this post, I will help you to update to Windows 11 on supported and non-supported device also.

  • First of all head over to Start Menu, from here go to Settings and then click on Update & Security
  • Click to check for the updates
  • Wait for a while to let the windows complete the update process
  • Here you can see Windows 11 updates ready to be install
  • Review the License Terms accept and click on Download Button

Finally, we are ready to upgrade to Windows 11, as I have said it is free. Click on download and install, button wait for the progress to start the Windows 11 installation.

Congratulations, we have successfully upgraded to new Windows 11 operating system.

Download and Install Windows 11 on Unsupported Devices

In case your PC or laptop is not eligible for Windows 11 stable release, then here is a possible solution for win 11 download. As you can see in the screenshot one of my PC is showing the error, “this PC doesn’t currently meet all the system requirements for windows 11”.

Now we will check the error in detail. Click on the link to download PC health check app. If it is not showing up in your PC then you can download it from the Microsoft store. Once the app is downloaded, double click to install the app. Run the app and click on check now button as shown in the screenshot. Click on see all results in order to check the errors in detail. In my case, the PC is fulfilling all the requirement for windows 11 except TPM 2.0 and processor. Now it is clear that I cannot update this machine through Windows 11 stable release.

To resolve this issue we will move on to other methods to update to windows 11. Visit Microsoft official page to get Windows 11. There are three options to go with.

2. Windows 11 Installation Media

3. Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)

You must possess valid Windows 10 license

A working Internet connection

Your PC or Laptop must fulfill all the requirements for Windows 11 (GO with option 2 or 3 if your PC do not qualify for Windows 11 Upgrade)

Windows 10 to windows 11 Upgrade through Installation Media

If you want to make a clean install of Windows 11 then this is the best option to go with. You will first download the media creation tool from Microsoft and it will let you through the process to create bootable USB or DVD.

This method allows you to create a bootable USB or DVD installation media to free upgrade to Windows 11. With this option, you can download Windows 11 ISO image file to install on any device. After installation, you can use Windows 10 product key to activate your copy of Windows 11.
